Application of PEO in textile industry

Polyethylene oxide (PEO) is a high-molecular-weight homopolymer formed by the multiphase catalytic ring-opening polymerization of ethylene oxide. It possesses excellent dispersing,

flocculating, lubricating, drag-reducing, and thickening properties. It is thermoplastic, water-soluble, and soluble in some organic solvents. It is resistant to bacterial attack and does not spoil. The application of PEO in textiles is introduced below:

Now operating speed of textile machine increases from 1,000-1,500 m/min to 3,500-7,000 m/min, there occurs splashing heavily at high-speed spinning process, it deteriorates not only circumstance at working place, but also threatens workers security, causes fiber fuzzing.

To solve this problem, adding our PEO to the textile auxiliaries to make water-based emulsion.

The volume of addition of PEO depends on the type and form of fiber, in general, the amount is ranging from 0.4% to 1% of the fiber weight.

Our PEO can significantly improve the dyeability and antistatic properties of these fibers during melt spinning after adding it into the polyolefins, polyamides, and polyesters。

Adding PEO 0.1-0.15% (by weight) of PEO resin with a molecular weight of 1-3.5 million in the textile inks and coatings, acting as a thickener and lubricant, our PEO can improve the color, uniformity, and smoothness of the textile ink.

In textile cleaning agents, PEO can be mixed with organic acids (such as citric acid and oxalic acid), inorganic acids (such as phosphoric acid and hydrochloric acid), ammonium hydroxide, and surfactants to greatly increase the viscosity of the cleaning agent and control its flowability to suit various applications. The addition amount of low molecular weight PEO is generally 0.25-0.1%.
