Tall Oil Fatty Acid
CAS: 61790-12-3
Tall Oil Fatty Acid (TOFA) is a cost-effective, bio-based chemical widely used in the oil and gas industry. Thanks to its long-chain fatty acid structure, it serves as a versatile intermediate and performance additive in both drilling and production phases.

Why Choose Midian Tall Oil Fatty Acid
Midian Tall Oil Fatty Acid is is reacted with amines (such as DETA or TEPA) to create amidoamines or imidazolines. These act as powerful surfactants and emulsifiers that stabilize water-in-oil (invert) emulsions, keeping water droplets finely dispersed in the diesel or synthetic oil base.
Lubricants: It provides excellent lubricity to drilling fluids. It reduces friction between the drill string and the wellbore, which lowers torque and drag, speeds up the rate of penetration (ROP), and prevents differential sticking.
Wetting Agents: TOFA derivatives act as oil-wetting agents, ensuring that weighting agents (like barite) and drill cuttings remain preferentially wet by oil rather than water, maintaining mud stability.
